For many regions in Italy the 4th November 1966 was an anxious day. However, two cities in particular attracted international attention: Florence and Venice. For the first one something traumatic and totally visible happened within a few hours and the whole world, completely dumbfounded, became aware of the sudden and absurd catastrophe. In the case of the second, as was revealed, the 4th November left people and goods in a frightening solitude… The truth is that Venice has an everlasting 4th November; its disaster became a habit, whereas the Arno could not burst.
