Sprites

Sprites do not only live in fairy tales, fleeting spirits roaming in the air. Sometimes they take shape amongst us, down here, to become real within a drawing on a wall, in a symbol, in a phrase, in a story and even in a person. They are always portents of a stage effect or happiness, a regret or heartfelt feelings, an invitation to smile or to ponder. We are not always aware of this. Indeed, very often we don’t even notice them, often enigmatic, they are amongst us not to be seen, but to be discovered. Hence their existence depends on us, on our vision. And if we are quick enough to grasp them, we will discover that at the end of the day they are nothing else than a projection of our thoughts: a sprite can be seen by one person but not by another. But once they have been inside a camera and then framed, we all recognise them for what they are: fleeting apparitions which are part of our life. Our personal, social and even political life.
